Take Time To See Your Life Around You
It was just another Tuesday. I was doing laundry on a warm spring day, a thousand thoughts going through my head. All the things that need to be done, the endless to-do list, errands, bills, money. [spacer height=”20px”]The birds were singing but I couldn’t hear them with all the noise in my head. Before I knew it another day had ended and off to bed I went with another day just like it quickly on its way.[spacer height=”20px”]
[spacer height=”20px”]One afternoon I was sitting on my swing enjoying a welcome break. It took a bit but after a while, I noticed the birds were singing. [spacer height=”20px”]It was such a lovely sound and it brought some much-needed focus to my afternoon. It got me to thinking. The change from winter to spring has always been a time I look forward to. I have been so busy here with the house, the farm, the family and what needed to be done that I was missing it!! The sounds, the smells, the sights. The Earth was waking up from its winter hibernation and I was missing it.[spacer height=”20px”]
I decided it was time to wake up and smell the roses, or well in my case the daisies.[spacer height=”20px”]
I decided right then and there to NOTICE.[spacer height=”20px”]
Notice the blue of the sky. Notice the sound of the birds. Notice the smell of fresh cut grass. Notice the trees and the green of the new leaves.[spacer height=”20px”]
It is amazing how that one little word has changed my whole perspective on life. I have taken this new outlook so seriously I have placed post-its all over the house reminding me to stop and breath. I no longer what to go through life on auto pilot working from sun up to sun down, I want to enjoy life with a sense of peace and appreciation for the beauty around me.[spacer height=”20px”]
You too can learn to slow down. It only takes a minute. When life and its busyness get the better of you, stop, take a deep breath and notice.[spacer height=”20px”]

Tracy I LOVE your realness. Reading your post reminded me of when I was 14, and the last time I went to see my auntie, dying in the hospital… and she said over and over “it just goes so fast”… I swore I would remember that every day of my life, but of course there are days that I don’t. Post it’s it is! This is tooooo important of a message not to take seriously. Thank you!
Carly,
Your story really touched me, thank you for sharing. Your sweet Aunt is so right, it does go by so fast. What a great reminder, we need to live and love to the fullest every single day.
Thank you too!
