simplify home life
A handful of years ago I was stuck. I mean really really stuck. I lived in a beautiful home that was full of stuff. Stuff on the walls, on the shelves, on the counter, in the cabinets, in the closest…basically it was everywhere. I had a hard time letting go and saying no.
I spent full days cleaning. You see when you have a lot of stuff you have to clean it.
Who knew?
I spent other days organizing. Let me just say when you have a lot of stuff this is nearly impossible to do.
Again, who knew?
I had so many things in our attic above the garage that the ceiling actually cracked from the weight of it all. (no lie!) When you have a lot of stuff, it weighs you down.
ugh
So, what was my breaking point? It happened about 8 years ago. My one son wanted to compete in an important track event. I knew I had the paperwork somewhere but I just couldn’t find it.
Too much stuff.
When I finally did find it, I realized we missed the deadline. I was devastated and so was my son.
I vowed at that point to declutter and simplify every single aspect of our lives.
I started with our home, moved to our yard, then our finances, our online information, our vehicles, our diets and our relationships. One finished project brought another cluttered area of our life into view. You see as I made this journey I realized that clutter not only complicates your home but every single aspect of your life.
Each day as I learned to let go I felt not only the weight around me alleviate but all of the stress that was on my shoulders began to alleviate as well.
I found myself spending less time cleaning and more time reading. I was getting organized and losing fewer things. I was no longer late for Birthdays and bills were paid on time. Less time was wasted and more time was cherished. I was happy and so was my family.
I cannot tell you how decluttering has completely changed my life.
Are you like I was? Do you find yourself drowning in clutter having no idea where to begin? Instead of a junk drawer do you have a junk room? Are you late on your bills and other important dates? Or are you just stuck with no idea how or where to begin?
